I have 19 years before being able to collect a full benefit. I believe it will be around but not in the form that we know as of today. The benefit amount will likely be lower than the calulations in todays dollars. So, we will have to make other plans for retirement income. Not enough younger people working and paying into the system and a large number of baby boomers who are starting to collect.

Using current projections, NO, Social Security will probably not be around when it is time for me to retire. I have joined a retirement fund with my job allowing them to take out 30% per check which is by-weekly, and they will match up to 20%. I understand that still might not be enough, but it’s a start.
